Adding four lanes to a flyover structure in Sharjah-UAE
THE PROJECT
Sh. Mohd Bin Zayed Road in Sharjah at the National Paint Roundabout is currently under construction with four lanes to be added to the flyover. The project in Sharjah which cost nearly Dh1 billion divided into three phases and and covers approximately nine kilometres.
Traffic congestion at the National Paints roundabout area in Sharjah will be a thing of the past in a short time once the Ministry of Public Works revamps it with the addition of two more lanes on the flyover in either direction.
THE SOLUTION
For the expansion joints in the bridge, which take a heavy load due to continuous flow of light and heavy vehicles, Fosroc specified full system comprising of a strong and flexible material which will easily fill the expansion joints and allow movement in the joints.
Nitomortar S for re-profiling. In additional Nitomortar TS as transition strip filler and Colpor 200 sealant (with Primer 20) used for filling bolt holes in rubber modular bridge expansion joints were also specified. All the three products were approved over other competitor products and applied.
THE BENEFITS
Traffic congestion was eased upon the project completion. Ministry of Public Works and PARSONS Overseas were satisfied by our products and site support, as the roundabout is the main link from Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
The work has to be completed within the given time and it was completed because Fosroc provided a complete engineering solution for the modular rubber bridge expansion joints with expert onsite supervision and training.
